  • Willow Smith, daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, has released a new video for her song “I Am Me,” and for once she was age appropriate throughout.

Smith, 11, unveiled the video for the simple ballad at the BET Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles over the weekend.

It’s a far cry from her last video, released in May, for her song “Do it Like Me (Rockstar).” The clip was filled with hip-thrusting, gyrating dance moves and rock-star posing that pushed the limit on pre-teen sexuality. She looked like more than a kid just having fun, and the lyrics were cringe-worthy.

This time out, Willow tones down both the clothes, dance moves and lyrics. She wears an over-sized shirt and jeans without any wild costume changes. The song is all about “trying to find who I really am” and sends a positive message to her tween audience.

You have to be yourself. Be real.
Be honest. ‘Cause ain’t nobody got time for that.
    They really don’t.

“It’s just explaining who I am and what symbolizes me-like me as an energy, me as a person, just cool and rounded,” she told global grind.
