R&B singer Rihanna has shed the hard-edged image that marked her previous album in favor of softer more mellow persona captured in the first video off her new album for the song “Only Girl in The World.”
Her forthcoming album LOUD! debuts Nov. 12. The album retails for $19.98, but you can pre-order it through an Improper special offer at Amazon.com for $14.99 for the deluxe edition, a 25% savings. Click the link below left.
The video opens with Rihanna ablaze in reddish-yellow sunlight, walking peacefully through the hills in a white strapless spring dress.
Rihanna, 22, is pictured strolling alone through fields and then the camera cuts to her in huge beds of flowers.
The video has a very fluid and feminine touch, and is filmed in hues of red, yellow and gold to complement the singer’s flame red hair.
“‘It looks so unreal. It looks fake, like something out of a postcard,” she told gossip Web site Just Jared.
“We had a lot of sunshine those couple of days, so it really worked with the whole essence of the video. But really, the video just shows this big landscape and the only person there is me.”
Her last studio album, Rated R, was released last November, and Rihanna displayed a tough edge.

She later attributed to her working through issues resulting from her brutal beating at the hands of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown on the eve of the 2009 Grammys in February.
The first three singles off the album, “Russian Roulette”, “Hard” and “Rude Boy,” reflected that image.
Rihanna has been dating Los Angeles Dodgers baseball player Matt Kemp.
‘I’m so happy. I feel really comfortable, and it’s so easy,” she said of her relationship “It keeps me sane, really.”
