Solange Knowles, the kid sister of music icon Beyonce Knowles, is establishing a footprint in fashion with her funky photo shoot for Dutch magazine Rika. She stepped out of the spotlight as a teen after getting married and having a baby.

But the 26-year-old singer and fashion maven is working on a comeback.

She’s always had an interest in fashion and has modeled for the family’s clothing line, House of Deréon, named after grandmother Agnéz Deréon. She also helped launch a junior apparel line within the brand and has modeled clothes along with her big sis.

Solange Knowles Channels ’60s Chic

Knowles was named as ambassador for Giorgio Armani’s younger diffusion line, Armani Jeans in 2008.

With soprano-range vocals, she was just emerging from her sister’s shadow as a teen when she decided to get married at 17 to Daniel Smith in February 2004. The couple moved to Idaho after Solange gave birth to son Daniel Julez. The couple divorced three years later and Solange moved back to Los Angeles.

She’s about to relaunch her music career with her True EP. It will be released as a digital download on iTunes Nov 27. Solange has always avoided comparisons with Beyonce, saying her goals are different.

In the photo shoot for Rika, photographer Elle Muliarchyk captures her in a number of funky throwback looks styled by Jenke-Ahmed Tailly. Nikki Helms and Munemi Imai handled hair and makeup respectively.
