    Pete Bennett, Legendary '60s, '70s Rock Promoter, Dies Suddenly at 77

    Pete Bennett, one of the top promotion men in rock music during its Golden era, died suddenly of a heart attack on Thanksgiving day at his home in Connecticut. He was 77. Bennett, named “World’s Top Promotion Man,” by Billboard magazine, is credited for propelling the careers of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, The Who, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor and many artists and bands. Bennett, born in the Bronx, NY was described by ex-Beatle Paul McCartney as “the promotion man responsible for getting the Beatles on the radio,” according to his company Peter Bennett Enterprises....

    Bruce Springsteen Headlines NBC Telethon for Sandy Victims

    Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Billy Joel, Sting and Jon Bon Jovi are among the headliners who have signed up to perform in a special one-hour broadcast to help raise money for the Red Cross on behalf of Hurricane Sandy victims. The special, which will air on NBC and Bravo and USA cable networks was announced today by NBCUniversal.     Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, Davy Jones and Mike Nesmith, known collectively as The Monkees, made their television debut 46 years ago this month (Sept. 12).
