  • Taylor Swift raised some eyebrows when she put the Nashville mansion she bought for her parents on the market in July. But she wasn’t kicking them out, she was kicking them up to a nicer neighborhood and even bigger mansion.

Swift just bought a $2.5 million historic house in the tony Northumberland Estates area of Nashville, which is home to a number of celebrities, including Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban.

The house is a little more over the top than the understated house she’s selling for $1.5 million and which apparently is still on the market. She’ll likely take a loss on the property.

But Swift, who shot to stardom as a teenager, probably isn’t sweating the dollars. Forbes listed her as 2011’s 7th top earning celebrity with income estimated to be in the range of $45 million.

In fact, she’s been on a real estate buying spree.

She also owns a $3.55 million house in Beverly Hills, and paid $1.99 million for a 4000-square-foot duplex penthouse condo at The Adelicia complex in downtown Nashville.

The 21-year-old superstar listed the house less than a year after buying it for her parents.

Modest by superstar standards, the 4,929 square foot red brick house was built in 1929 and has expansive yard and sprawling gardens.

In contrast, her latest acquisition is a classic, columned Southern plantation style house, built in the 1930s by Guilford Dudley, Jr., a former US Ambassador to Denmark.

Before Swift, the house was owned by Universal Music Group chairman Luke Lewis.

The house has been completely updated while still maintaining the original architecture.

The house is actually a comparable size to her parents’ previous house, although somewhat larger. It has more than 5,600 square feet of living area on nearly six acres of lush rolling grounds.

It has four spacious bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, multiple sitting areas, plenty of privacy and a pool.

The spacious pool house adds an 2,000 square feet, with state of the art appliances.
