Taylor Swift is fast becoming the queen of breakup songs, but her music resonates with her largely female fan base like few artists. Swift is out promoting her next album Red and opening up like never before about her music and her life.
She says even she’s often surprised by the fuss caused by her music. Often it’s the message she sends.
“I’m excited about telling the beginnings of stories, like the story of this song called “Ours,” where I wrote it about this guy nobody thought I should be with,” she tells MTV. (See below)

“So I wrote this song specifically just to play it for him, just to show him, ‘I don’t care what anyone says. I don’t care that you have tattoos.”
“I don’t care that you have a gap between your teeth. I love you for who you are,” she adds.
She points out that one of her No. 1 songs, “Love Story,” was about something all teens likely go through. “You take me being mad at my parents because they didn’t want me to date this dude when I was 17, and I threw a fit and ran to my room and wrote a song on my bedroom floor called ‘Love Story.’”
The 22-year-old singer is currently in a new relationship with Conor Kennedy, the 18-year-old son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. According to reports, her relationship with the Kennedy clan has been totally smooth.
“I don’t talk about my personal life in great detail. I write about it in my songs, and I feel like you can share enough about your life in your music to let people know what you’re going through,” she says in the November issue of Glamour magazine.
She also says her anchors are her best friends. She counts among them, Emma Stone and Selena Gomez.
“They are so important in my life right now,” she says. “I’m the kind of girl who needs to tell her friends everything. I’ve developed this really close-knit group of girls. I met Emma when I was 17, and I met Selena when I was 18. So they’ve experienced all of this with me, and they’ve also experienced their own amazing success, and somehow through all of it, we’ve stayed close.”
