Jeezy also performed his single “R.I.P.”
Mariah, who performed the original version with Miguel, opened with a flourish standing on a rotating stage surrounded by a multi-faceted mirror that caused her dress to sparkle.
Then, she showed why she’s one of the most dynamic singers today with a powerful display of her five-octave mezzo-soprano voice.
But some twitter critics claimed she was lip-syncing her performance. She was criticized for the same thing during a performance on “American Idol” but her reps insisted she sang live.
Miguel could be heard off-stage singing the song’s opening refrain. Young Jeezy came into view walking down a ramp and rapping.
Miguel won Best Male R&B/Pop Artist at the show.
The 2013 BET Awards were held at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, Sunday (June 30).
