Lana Del Rey has always been bigger in Europe than she is in the United States, and it showed in London, where did a guest spot on the Jools Holland show on BBC-2. She sang “Ride” and drew screams from a packed audience. The 26-year-old singer has been promoting her new Paradise EP, which features eight new songs. Holland, 54, is an English pianist, bandleader, singer, composer and hosts a sort of musical variety talk show called “Later… with Jools Holland,” It would be the equivalent of Jay Leno’s “Tonight Show” with a heavier music emphasis....

Lana Del Rey Goes Downtown on New Up-Tempo 'Paradise' (listen)

Lana Del Rey has released a new track, possibly off her upcoming reworked Born to Die album, “The Paradise Edition.” Titled “Paradise,” it’s up-tempo while still adhering to her big band orchestration and mood-instilling echo chamber. The 26-year-old singer must have finally gotten the message that her songs were stuck in a rut. She ditches the breathy lyrics and Adagio pacing for something closer to Allegretto, which is a fancy way to say she speeds up the beat. The tune is also appears to be dance influenced. Del Rey sing-speaks the lyrics, something less than a rap, and sings the mellifluous choruses....

Lana Del Rey stars in another dreamy, sepia-toned video that’s a symbolic portrayal of her song “Summertime Sadness.” The tune is based on a supposedly true story about two lesbian lovers who taken their own lives. Del Rey looks stunningly fashionable as she plunges off a bridge. The images of her could have been culled from a high-fashion photo spread. Although the video has a story line, it’s more a collection of images or video postcards. Jaime King stars as Del Rey’s lover; her husband Kyle Newman, a filmmaker co-directs with Spencer Susser, who belongs to the Australian filmmaking collective Blue-Tongue Films....
